US F1 in Piss-Up in Brewery DebacleAfter a couple of weeks of intense speculation and a snap inspection by the FIA, US F1 have been forced to face up to reality. There will be no American team on the grid at Bahrain, or indeed any of the other F1 races of the 2010 season. A case of piss-up in brewery syndrome and a shortage of cash have conspired to ensure that the team is nowhere near ready to bolt an engine into the back of its car, let alone fire it up to complete a shakedown lap or two or go qualifying. The news that everybody in European motor sport had been expecting for some time was finally made official when the FIA put out a press release today which not only put paid to US F1 but also to Stefan GP's aspirations to replace them: The USF1 Team have indicated that they will not be in a position to participate in the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship. Having considered the various options, the FIA confirms that it is not possible for a replacement team to be entered for the Championship at this late stage. American F1 fans will have to console themselves with the fact that there is at least a race in North America this year when F1 returns to Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix. author: Phil Haigh published: 03/03 Belgian GP - Preview Hungarian GP - Preview British GP - Preview European GP - Preview Canadian GP - Race Report Canadian GP - Preview | ||
